Assignment #4 My notes on episode 1150

To go out with someone
     - means to go on a romantic date with someone.

Change the subject 
     - to stop talking about something and begin talking about something else. Especially when   you don't want to talk about the first topic.

You are not getting younger and...   
     - a person tell someone that he/she may soon be too old to do something.

Moving on! 
     - you don't want to stop talking about this topic and try to talk about something else.

Settle down 
     - to get marriage, start a family.

Alone 
     - to be yourself without anyone else.

Lonely 
     - to be sad because you are by your self or you don't have any close personal relationship.

That reminds me
     - to suddenly change topic. Although it could be that you have suddenly though of something you have been reminded of some that you want to tell the other person.

Broke up with someone 
     - to end the romantic relationship with someone. Usually we use that when we talking about ended a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship but not marriage. If you end your marriage, we probably say you are getting divorce or separated.

Type 
     - the kind of person to when you are romantically attractive, the kind of person in whom you are interested in.

Leg man 
     - refer into a man who might be attracted to woman who have long beautiful legs.

Diet
     - refer to the kind of  food you eat. Normally we use the word when someone is trying to lose weight. They try to eat certain kind of food and in order to not be as heavy as they are right now to weight less.

To shed pounds
     - means to lose weight.

Anyway 
     - usually to change the topic or talk about some thing new.

To cut out something 
     - means to stop using it or stop doing it.

Sweets 
     - refers to anything that has a lot of sugar like candy.

That's none of your business! 
     - usually in anger when someone is asking you about something that does't concern them or that you think it's too personal to talk about.

My sentiments exactly!
     - to show that you agree completely with the other person. You agree completely with what the other person has said.

Assignment #3 My thoughts and new findings on ESL Cyber Listening Lab

     Teacher taught us how to use a website named ESL Cyber Listening Lab this week .

     I learn a lot from this website . I listen to the conversation which I choose first . If I can't understand , I can listen second times or more . This website also have scrip . The sentences about conversation were written on the scrip . I can know the words that I don't understand . And I can learn how to use these words,like make sentence or some slang . After practice listening,I can practice speaking(listen to the conversation and repeat it) .


     I can learn listening , reading and speaking at the same time .

Trim   to make something neater, smaller, better, etc., by cutting parts from it
              The training budget was trimmed by $15,000.

Butcher  to kill animals and prepare them to be used as meat
                       That hairdresser really butchered my hair!

License  to give official permission for someone to do or produce something, or for an                          activity to take place
                       The vaccine has been licensed by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Decent  treating people in a fair and kind way

                    It was decent of you to show up today.
